Children in the New Media Landscape. Games Pornography Perceptions: Yearbook 2000
We are pleased to present a third Yearbook. The 2000 Yearbook treats two themes, both of which relate to newer features of the media landscape: violence in video and computer games, and pornography on television and on Internet. Some articles in the Yearbook also discuss findings on audience perceptions of violence and sex in the media.
Broadcasting & Convergence: New Articulations of the Public Service Remit: RIPE@2003
Will broadcasting survive convergence, and should it survive? If yes, why and in what form? The questions were fundamental to the RIPE@2002 conference in Finland and lay the groundwork for this book, representing the culmination of nearly two years of fruitful collaboration between media scholars and practitioners with a keen focus on the future of public service media. The contents help set the stage for the RIPE@2004 conference being organised in Denmark.

Contesting the Frontiers: Media and Dimensions of Identity
This book discusses the fashionable concept of identity in present-day hybridized mediascapes caracterized by ‘cultural mixes’. The ten articles present a variety of perspectives, some quite unorthodox. The main focus is on identity as it is discussed and debated by researchers in the Nordic countries, but some contributions lead us to Latin America and Africa, as well. To a certain degree, all the contributors advocate the return of place – or, rather, glocal elements in culture – in identity as it is reflected in the media.

The thematic focus of the Yearbook 1998, rests on research concerning the influences of children’s exposure to violence on television. Articles discuss findings on children and televised violence resulting from research undertaken in different parts of the world. This book is concerned with the role of news media in an increasingly globalized society. A recurrent theme in all of the articles is the impact of globalization on information supply, public debate, and the exercise of democracy.
