Samtidigt som internet är en självklarhet för västvärlden saknar fyra miljarder människor tillgång till nätet. Island har högst andel internetanvändare i hela världen och Finland är störst på mobila bredbandsabonnemang. Allt enligt rapporten State of Broadband 2016.

Freedom of Expression and Media in Transition

In recent years there has been widespread concern about the ability of the media to maintain and develop their role as a pillar of democracy. A precondition for a true democracy is well-informed citizens and the right to freedom of expression and freedom of information, and that can only occur where press and internet freedom, media pluralism and independence exist.
These articles will contribute to knowledge development in the field as well as to global and regional discussions about freedom of expression, press freedom and the role of journalists and communication rights in contemporary communication societies – in an era of globalization and digitization.

Reportrar utan gränser har presenterat sitt årliga pressfrihetsindex. De nordiska länderna ligger högt på listan, men medan Finland är bäst i världen har Sverige halkat ned från femte till åttonde plats. Det sammantagna betyget för världens länder pekar nedåt jämfört med förra året.

Becoming Old in the Age of Mediatization


This special issue of Nordicom Review aims for a deeper understanding of where and how media have specific consequences for the later parts of the life cycle as well as how old age/ageing is affected and shaped by processes of mediatization.
Mediatization research has thus far focused on issues such as parenthood and children’s play, while other studies of media dynamics relate to various aspects of work life and public life, such as politics, religion, sports, and conflict.
